Compare Pros and Cons: Ninja Foodi vs Instant Pot
Ninja Foodi Pros
Known as the pressure cooker that crisps the Ninja Foodi pressure cooks to save time and simultaneously lock in juices and then adds commendable crispiness to foods without making it unhealthy. It is a multi-functional appliance that sears, steams, slow cooks, crisps, tenderizes and does a lot more smoothly. One can even look to go beyond these functions and air fry, bake, roast, and broil ingredients, thanks to its exclusive Crisping Lid. It can turn frozen food into crispy meals really fast, which saves up a lot of cooking time. Its controls are also easy to operate, which makes cooking a variety of recipes much easier. It is also easy to clean it, which can be done within minutes.
Ninja Foodi Cons
One of the drawbacks of the Ninja Foodi is that it is a bit too large and occupies too much counter space. Also, it has separate lids for cooking, one for air frying and the other for crisping, and managing both for different functions can be a task. Using the lids of the appliance also poses occasional problems. So do parts like silicon sealing ring, which need to be addressed. Its air fry lid isn’t removable due to which it flips up when not being used. It makes the machine heavier on one side and pose problem while cleaning it. Also, the price of Ninja Foodi is higher than it should be.
Instant Pot Pros
Being a programmable pressure cooker, Instant Pot is a dependable and convenient appliance which is also at its job. It is also seen as a durable pressure cooker that can be used to steam vegetables and make a variety of recipes like sausages, risotto, butter chicken and more besides carrying out a slew of cooking functions. It locks the flavor, aroma and nutrients while cooking which make food delicious and healthy. Further, it features 14 Smart Programs and other built-in hi-tech functions like one-touch controls, ability to adjust heating intensity and time, etc. Further, the appliance does save time tremendously as it cooks fast and doesn’t require you to monitor it constantly. It is also safe to use, non-toxic and easy to clean.
Instant Pot Cons
Instant Pot may be an advanced appliance, but it isn’t exceptional in terms of what it can do; it is basically a pressure cooker, and works like one. Some users have complained how their Instant pot stopped working within a few months, if not as less as six weeks of use. As for the time-saving feature, one realizes while cooking that a little extra time has to be set aside for completion of the cooking process. The cooking time mentioned for some recipes is not all that accurate. The customer service of this appliance is also not up to the mark. Also, the Instant Pot could have been priced lesser than it is now.
I was given an Instant Pot as a Christmas gift. I have used it at least 2-3 times per WEEK since I received it–mostly in the pressure cooker mode. I have been delighted with results with every recipe I tried–soups, beef stew, chicken parts with veggies, lo mein and spaghetti and meatballs. I was particularly surprised at how well the latter turned out. I used my homemade frozen meatballs, layered the spaghetti (broken in half) on top, drizzled olive oil on it, added homemade sauce plus water and that was it. It cooked perfectly. The low mein was done in a similar manner and after it was cooked I added diced leftover chicken one time and steamed shrimp the second time. I am 88 years old and the simplicity of the Instant Pot is unbelievable compared to the pressure cooker I used in the 50s and 60s.
